Chapter 76:

Summary:

Nike couldn't hear it, panicking. She could not hear the voice of the sky.

Back inside the castle, Kara tells them that Nike could not be able to use her powers right now. While it is rare, it happens when a person has been very ill. And that is what Nike is in.

Kara also tells Livius that the rain has a different meaning for Nike. She had to work hard to be able to summon rain, unlike the rest of them. She was, in other words, delayed and this might have an affect on her. Kara tells Livius to support her.

And indeed, Livius does. He sleeps with her in the same room while her powers are not back. He also builds a garden for Nike to help her feel better.

While Nike was sleeping, there was also some apparition that touched her head. The apparition was apologizing, that what happened is for Nike's protection.

Meanwhile, Bard is busy looking at documents. He stops when he reads one. It's about the construction of Sheila's moratorium.

Chapter 77: Bad Luck with Women

Summary:

Bard barges in on Livius and Nike at the garden. He asks why Livius wants to build a shrine for Sheila.

Livius explains that he has been avoiding it for so long and needs to accept that Sheila is dead. To drive the point home, he will build a shrine for her. But he is in no hurry and says that he will until Bard gives the go-signal. To this, Bard leaves.

Livius then tells Nike that Livius and Bard's time stopped when Sheila died. To build a monument means to accept her death. Bard is still stuck in that time. Livius expresses concern that Bard is still single. The King has been receiving a lot of petitions for Bard's possible brides nowadays. His gallivanting time should be over.

Flash forward to Bard and it looks like he is still gallivanting. He then takes a visit to Violetta and relays to her Livius' plan to build a shrine. He is not happy that he can't even make one step forward like Livius. For Bard, Sheila is still alive.

Violetta tells him that he couldn't find a suitable partner because he has his standards set on Sheila. To this, Bard whispers to Violetta is she thinks all the things Bard said to her is a joke. He then follows it with, "Let's get together, Violetta."

Violetta immediately hits him in the gut.

"That's exactly what I mean," Violetta tells him, annoyed. "You look down on women!"

Violetta tells him that she is a woman too and she wants to be with someone who desperately loves her. Bard apologizes and serves her alcohol when she ordered him too.

The next day, Bard has a bit of hang-over but is still able to do his daily duties. He encounters Kara, who he has been avoiding because the last time they were together, her words hurt him because they were true. He had to help Kara in the underground library as he is the only one who knows it. Apparently, the reason why he knows it is because he used to bring women there.

The two go down in a seeming endless cavity full of books. The more they climb down, the earlier the publications they find. They plan to get to the 200-300 years ago books but they were still at the 50 years ago mark.

Suddenly, Bard's hang-over went back and tripped to a wall. This wall turns out be hollow and brittle. It quickly breaks apart, bringing both Bard and Kara falling into darkness.

They both land on shallow waters. It seems they are now deep in the underground drainage system.
