Chapter 81: The Song of the Meadow
Summary:
Pii-chan is learning how to fly. It is too young though. This also reminded the couple to name him. Livius' suggested names are all a bit difficult to pronounce, like Sinforinz and Gotraryoger.
It was then revealed that Livius is planning to go on a relaxing trip with Nike. He has apparently finished all his work (...unlike me T_T ). They're going to the Dernitary Springs. Anything that soaks in that spring for three days will turn white. The kingdom's largest volcano, Mt. Dail, is there.
The castle staff became hyper for the trip preparations. Some are drawing lots on who will be able to accompany the royals in the trip. Nike's attendants are not worried at all though as they are sure they will be able to come.
"General Bayreuth, have you heard of the trip?" Neil calls a long-haired, young man in uniform. He has been asked as one of the people to assist in guarding the royal couple. He says he's not very keen to go on a trip though. Neil then suggests to bring his kid, Garta, with them. And so he does.
The travel to the springs is ready. It looks like it's winter there though with Nike being all bundled up for the trip. Garta proves to be a pretty boy who hates being called a pretty boy and has the aura of a very strict parent. And off they go in their carriages. Nike giddily watches the scenery go by.
They also stop by the Old Road to stretch their legs a bit. There's also some sentimentality about their stopping in that plain as it is near the highlands, Sheila's homeland.
Pii-chan started tweeting there as Livius reminisces and so it has been decided that his name will be Yoru. It is the language of Sheila's tribe, which means song.
Livius tells Nike that he wants to visit Sheila's homeland someday. Not just her homeland, but a lot of places as well. He wants to visit it with Nike. This made her happy.
Livius then got on his knee, with a bouquet of flowers. Nike stood in front of him. He said he wasn't able to do this before.
It was a formal marriage proposal.
"Nike Lemercier, in the name of Livius Orvitas Ifriquiya, I ask thee for thy hand in marriage," Livius says. "So that I may continue to spend my life with you and continue to love you. Here on this road that Sheila followed, I ask thee... I offer you a bit of spring, and ask that you become officially my wife."
Nike swoons and only manages to say, "d-damn..."
Red-faced Livius tells her that this is the point where she is supposed to say yes.
The two got a heavy scolding from Garta but they all arrived in one piece at the springs. Livius vows to get Garta drunk. Nike, on other hand, is excited to try the springs.
Wait, Livius says he forgot to mention something to Nike.
The springs are mixed. There's no separation between men and women.
Sorry, he says in a look that obviously meant he is not sorry. xD He guesses that Nike will just have to hold on to him nice and tight. lol
