CHAPTER 70:

Summary:

"Ah," Livius could only say as he stares at Nike opening her eyes. "Ni...ke?"

"It's a match," Cassandra ordered the resident doctor. "Administer the third medicine without pausing."

She woke up? For real? Livius couldn't believe it. But her hands are so cold and her focus...

At that moment, Nike reaches out to hold Livius face in her hands.

"Livi," Nike delicately says as she tears up. "Welcome back."

Livius looks at her, making sure it is really happening, and immediately lunges forward to tearfully hug Nike against him.

Behind them, Cassandra and the others bustle to keep the dosage. At last, Cassandra asks Livius if he could step aside for a while because they still need to feed Nike with more dosages of the medicine.

Livius moves and starts to walk away to finally get some needed rest. He felt so relieved that he wobbled as he walked. He looked around the people who have supported them and suddenly hid his face in his hands. When Neil asked what's wrong, Livius confesses that he doesn't know who to thank for Nike's recovery.

Neil pats Livius on the shoulders and say, "In that case, thank the heavens. Thank the earth. Thank everything in the world."

Livius breaks down and cries.

On another part of the castle, people are informed that Nike has positively reacted to the third medicine. She is going to be fine. This is met with cheers.

Just then, a civil officer, who introduced himself as Venusius interrupts and tells Laios that they will be acquainted from now on. He is apparently the head of all the civil officers. He is next in rank to the prime minister.

Venusius asks who is the leader of their group. Jishin steps forward. Unexpectedly, Venusius bows and thanks them for helping the queen consort Nike. He says that this the Prime Minister will be thanking them as well. Jishin tells them that it was all Livius' plan.

Livius has not left Nike's side ever since administering the dosage. It will take three more days before Nike could get up. Nevertheless, Livius can't leave her even when Cassandra tells him it's okay. Cassandra also tells Livius that what made the third medicine work is probably because of the egg shell where the magical bird came from. Livius should thus take care of the bird carefully because it is basically what saved Nike.

Livius then requests Cassandra not to tell Nike that she became his concubine to save her. Livius has also intructed his retainers not to tell Nike.

Cassandra replies that she doesn't think Nike would mind but she won't tell her if Livius doesn't want to. Instead, Cassandra jokingly tells him that he could take advantage of her status as a concubine by bossing around people and promising her as a reward. Livius freaks and tell her to stop joking.

Suddenly, Nike wakes up.

"Hmm... Livi? Concu...?" Nike asks drowsily.

"Aw crap! It's nothing. Nothing at all, Nike!" Livius says.

Cassandra then took her leave.

With them alone, Livius and Nike becomes very romantic with Livius thinking that Nike appears to have become even five times cuter than before.

Nike then confesses that all this time, she could hear Livius saying that he was going to save her and that's why she pulled through. Livius, on the other hand, tells her that it was he who could hear and that made his journey bearable. Nike then concludes that maybe they were travelling together.

Livius becomes silent and lays his head near Nike's. 

"Thank you for being alive," Livius tells Nike.

The two lay side by side, holding each other's hand.

"Yes, thank you," Nike says.

In the ballroom, the thieves gather around for the thanksgiving party to celebrate Nike's recovery. Laios is immediately surrounded by women. Jishin wanted to leave but Cassandra shows up because she is the guest of honor. Laios told Jishin that a lot of the noblemen have been eyeing Cassandra. This made Jishin act like a bodyguard shooing away all the men who wanted to dance with her. But then, one special "cockroach" as Jishin described them arrived. It was Bardwin, "slayer of women." Jishin was in overdrive. Jishin and Laois assumes "formation B" to block Bardwin's pathway to Cassandra. Bardwin however swiftly gets through them. Jishin and Laios are shocked.

"Cassandra-sama," Bardwin says as he holds Cassandra's hand. "This Bardwin is greatly impressed with your efforts in all this affair. By all means, would you care to tell all of yourself? If possible, I'd like it to be the two of us until the morning..."

Cassandra blinks. "Why, thank you very much for the invitation Prime Minister, but I really don't like guys with long hair." With that, she touches his long hair. "Sorry, okay?"

"Ah, yes. Sorry," Bardwin sheepishly replies.

Cassandra then heartily eats and mentions that Tsubai, the girl assassin who is currently house-sitting the Witch's Den, would've loved the sweets. The chef offers to bake some sweets for Tsubai and Cassandra thanks him.

Back at the Witch's Den, Tsubai was preparing to leave. She is grateful for the fun experiences there but it was time to leave. With that, Tsubai leaves and closes the door.

With work and some exams, it's been difficult to find some time to summarize the SSWU chapters. Thanks to those who remind me once in  while to update the chapter. I only remember to update it when I get notifications that readers are waiting for it. It somehow forces me to clear up some space in my schedule and type a summary.

I'm not sure when OtakuMole will be reactivating its registration to new users. I am not in confidence with the said site but I am sure the decision has been thought out very carefully.

For this reason, I just realized that a lot of the readers who have not access to OtakuMole may have the wrong impression that the summaries are direct translation made by me. While it is true that they are indeed the translations from the manga, they are actually lifted from  the English translations made by the translators in OtakuMole. I have for many times considered the suggestion that some SSWU manga panels be posted in the summaries as well. Unfortunately, this is expressly prohibited by OtakuMole and I want to respect this rule. Moreover, I am anxious about the copyright law and would like to avoid getting my blog deleted if I post the actual manga. I have tried to compromise by making my summaries as detailed as possible. As you may have noticed, these are supposed to be mere summaries. However, because I realized a lot of the readers cannot log in into OtakuMole at the moment, I have tried to make it as detailed as possible.
